Working together for water resilience

A suite of tools integrating hydrological modelling, earth observation, machine learning and socio-economic analysis to inform water planning and optimise site-specific NBS interventions.
Adaptive Scalability Framework
A participatory methodology combining biophysical, socio-economic, institutional and governance analysis to guide the scaling of NBS-to-MAR solutions across the Mediterranean and beyond.
Our pilot sites
INVESTWATER technologies, methodologies and tools are demonstrated in four pilot sites.
Kouris River Watershed (Cyprus)
Located in a semi-arid region of southern Cyprus, this watershed includes urban, peri-urban and agricultural zones. The region relies heavily on a shared coastal aquifer and has a population of approximately 66,000 people in the Akrotiri area.
Almada Municipality (Portugal)
This coastal, flood-prone urban area south of Lisbon covers 70 km², combining densely populated urban and peri-urban zones with agricultural and fishing activities.. It is underlain by a vulnerable coastal aquifer that supports green spaces and local agriculture.
Nadhour Saouaf Watershed (Tunisia)
A 351 km² watershed located in a semi-arid region dominated by agricultural activities, with growing industrial development and rapid land use changes. Monitoring is limited, and the area supports a population of approximately 30,000.
Val di Cornia (Italy)
Spanning approximately 600 km² in coastal Tuscany, this pilot site includes riverine zones, wetlands (e.g. Orti Bottagone) and productive aquifers that are critical to agricultural and ecological systems. The area is prone to land subsidence and groundwater stress.
